WooCommerce PayPal Payments

One checkout solution. Many ways to pay. PayPal’s all-in-one solution allows you to offer PayPal, Venmo (US), Pay Later at no additional cost, credit and debit cards, and country-specific payment options.

The all-in-one checkout solution*

WooCommerce PayPal Payments lets you offer PayPal, Venmo (US only), Pay Later options, credit cards and more — all designed to help you maximize conversion.

Help increase conversion by automatically offering PayPal buttons on product pages and at checkout. Consumers are nearly three times more likely to purchase when you offer PayPal.¹

PayPal Pay Later

Let customers pay over time while you get paid up front — at no additional cost. PayPal Pay Later options are boosting merchant conversion rates and increasing cart sizes by 39%.²

Help increase conversions with Pay Later messaging

PayPal Pay Later allows customers to pay over time while you get paid up front — at no additional cost to your business. And since 81% of younger consumers who use buy now, pay later decide which payment method to use before they get to checkout⁴, showing Pay Later messaging on your site lets customers know they have flexible options to pay over time while they are browsing — helping convert your browsers into buyers.

Pay Later features are available in these countries. Customers automatically see the most relevant Pay Later offering.

Venmo (US only)

Reach Venmo shoppers while allowing customers to share purchases with friends. Venmo users spend 2.2 times more annually on online purchases compared to other online buyers.³

Country-specific payment methods

Offer locally recognized payment methods to help build trust and reach international customers, including Payment Upon Invoice (PUI), a local payment option available only for purchases completed in Germany.

Add credit and debit card processing capabilities

PayPal Payments provides two different card processing options:

  • Standard Card Processing: Card transactions are managed by PayPal in a prebuilt user experience, which simplifies your compliance requirements. Suitable for all business and personal seller accounts.

  • Advanced Card Processing: Get everything that comes with PayPal’s standard integration, along with the ability to customize the look, feel, and placement of your debit and credit card payment fields. You can also use fraud protection tools to set up your own risk tolerance filters.

Create stable, predictable income by offering subscription plans.
WooCommerce PayPal Payments is compatible with WooCommerce Subscriptions.

PayPal Subscriptions allow business and casual sellers to accept reliable recurring payments on a fixed billing schedule (buyers may require a PayPal account).

With the Vaulting feature (business account approval required), you can offer flexible plans with fixed or quantity pricing, set billing cycles for the time period you want, and offer all kinds of subscriptions with prorated payments or discounted trial periods.

What a bad plugin. I understand that there are so many negative reviews. "[Error] Unknown error while connecting to Paypal. Status code:0." This is an error that appears then disappears then reappears when clicking on the PayPal button. This means that sometimes a customer will be able to order but 5 minutes later he will not be able to order anymore. We already have several customer complaints. I think I'll uninstall it and switch to card only via another extension. UPDATE: As soon as we remove this plugin and go back to PayPal Standard (default option in WooCommerce) our sales resumed normally. I would like to report fraudulent practices of Paypal. If we switched to PayPal Payments it is because we were misled by Paypal which said last summer (May 2023), I quote: "the PayPal Standard will disappear this summer". This was of course a lie. PayPal Standard is still there and works much better than PayPal Payments. If we had not been victims of these fraudulent practices by PayPal, we would have kept PayPal Standard (by default in WooCommerce) which is more than sufficient for us.
I installed it despite the bad reviews because it's officially recommended by Woocommerce, but Oh my...The checkout stopped working, even when the users were selecting other payment options. And by "stopped working" I mean it just reloaded when the users clicked the buy button. The error in the console log was "PayPal order ID not found in meta".I Googled it. It seems that it was not the firs time this plugin had the same error. This looks like a bad internal development/testing procedure.I contacted WooCommerce who contacted this plugin development team, and they sent me via email a new version of the plugin saying that they were aware of the error. This was 6 days later after a client reported the bug. That means that I would not have sales for 6 / 7 days. ¿Can you imagine that? (I, of course, moved to another plugin as fast as I could)Overall, by using it myself and considering the other reviews, this plugin should not exist. It's dangerous because it's messing with entrepreneurs' income, stability and peace of mind.Install at your own risk.

Cant really understand they still publish version 2.5.3 as it clearly has a bug that causes server too slow down a lot. See wordpress.org/support/topic/woo-paypal-update-caused-slow-sales/

Sets you up for legal trouble if you sell in Germany, because it replaces the "Buy now" button on the checkout page with a button that only shows a paypal logo. It's a legal requirement that the button explicitly says something like "buy now". Even more outrageous as this seems to be developed by a Germany company. It also looks ugly because it messes up you CI and does not follow your custom css. We'll use the old plugin until it doesn't work anymore. If this is not fixed by then, our customers are happy to pay via Klarna and Stripe. (which half of them already do anyway)
