Tag Slug will not display in Japanese

    I can create a tag name and tag slug using japanese text but the tag slug will not display in japanese on the tag panel. however the tag name does display in japanese and if i try to edit the tag slug, the tag slug does display in japanese where it can be edited.

    the site displays japanese everywhere just fine.

    i’m not a programmer
    how do i fix the tag slug display issue?

    This is not issue, is spec. For compatibility purpose, WordPress automatically convert Japanese character to ‘system understandable’ character (which called ‘encode’). So strange characters which you see at slug field is the encoded Japanese characters.

    System only uses slug for internal use so you do not have to worry about those strange characters even you edit actual (displayable) tag names. On the other hand, you should not edit them if you do not know the meanings of those encoded characters.
