XAMPPにインストール後、登録ユーザーへのメールでエラー

フォーラム、Google等で検索いたしましたが解決できなかった為、投稿させて頂きます。
質問する場所が違うということであれば、ご誘導いただければ幸いです。

問題点：
WordPressからの「[ブログタイトル]あなたのユーザとパスワード」のメールが「Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender」というエラー（エラーメールの差出人はウィルス対策ソフト；AVG）となり、無限ループしている。

目的：
メールが届かなかったのは（当時は）設定されていなかったからであり、問題ないが、無限ループを止めたい。

環境：
・WordPress： 2.9.1-ja
・OS: Windows XP sp3
・ウィルス対策： AVG 9.0.730
・メーラー： Thunderbird 3.0.1
・ブラウザ： Firefox 3.5.7
・サーバー環境： XAMPP 1.7.3

* Apache 2.2.14 (IPv6 enabled) + OpenSSL 0.9.8l
* MySQL 5.1.41 + PBXT engine
* PHP 5.3.1
* phpMyAdmin 3.2.4
* Perl 5.10.1
* FileZilla FTP Server 0.9.33
* Mercury Mail Transport System 4.72

状況：
・WordPressの試験導入のため、ローカル（WindowsXP sp3）にXAMPPを用いてWordPressをインストールを行った。
・ユーザー「admin」と投稿用ユーザー「tak」を作成。その際にそれぞれに別のgmailのアカウントを指定した。
・メーラーにてメインアカウント（OCN）のメールボックスを見ると上述のエラーメールがあったため、遅れなかったことと内容を確認。WordPressの設定を見直し、プラグイン「Cimy Swift SMTP」を導入し、Gmailで送信する設定を行った。
・しかし、その後もエラーメールが届き続ける。受信間隔は不定期？常に同一送信時間のため、いつ受信しているのか不明。
・受信するメールは２種類（adminの設定の通知メール、takの設定の通知メール）
