You bring your own AI key
Chatzio does not include or resell AI usage. You create a free or paid account at OpenRouter, generate an API key, and paste it into the plugin settings. All AI requests are billed to your OpenRouter account. Messaging is unlimited on the free plugin.
Chatzio Pro (optional add-on)
The free plugin is fully functional on its own. The optional Chatzio Pro add-on (from https://chatzio.pro) adds premium tooling and integrations:
- Live WooCommerce order tracking inside chat
- Back-in-stock (“Notify me”) restock notifications
- Automatic content sync, AI embeddings and semantic knowledge search
- Resource Library (PDF / Word upload)
- Advanced analytics (heatmap, intent, funnel)
External services
This plugin connects to the OpenRouter API (https://openrouter.ai) to generate chat replies. OpenRouter is a third-party AI gateway.
- What is sent and when: When a visitor sends a message in the chat widget, the plugin sends that message and recent conversation history from the same chat session to OpenRouter so the AI can generate a reply. Each request also includes your site URL and site title in the request headers (used by OpenRouter for attribution).
- Authentication: Requests are authenticated with the OpenRouter API key that you enter in the plugin settings. No requests are made until a key is configured.
- Nothing is sent until used: No data is sent to OpenRouter on install or activation, only when the chat is actually used.
Your use of OpenRouter is subject to their terms and privacy policy:

FAQ
-
Do I need an API key?
-
Yes. Chatzio uses your own OpenRouter API key so that AI usage is billed to your account and your data stays under your control. You can get a key at https://openrouter.ai/.
-
Does it work with WooCommerce?
-
Yes. When WooCommerce is active, Chatzio shows product cards, product recommendations, and an “add to cart” action. Live order tracking in chat and back-in-stock (“Notify me”) restock notifications are part of the optional Chatzio Pro add-on.
-
Is any data sent to third parties?
-
Only to the OpenRouter API you configure, and only when the chat is used. See the “External services” section above for details.
-
Where is chat data stored?
-
Conversations, leads and analytics are stored in your own WordPress database. You can set a data-retention period in the settings to automatically delete old records.

変更履歴
5.15.0
- New: A friendly, dismissible review invite inside the “Your Chatzio Impact” panel — shown only after your chatbot has delivered real value. Dismissing it (or the review notice) hides both, and only one review prompt ever shows per screen.
- Improved: refreshed, on-brand styling for the review notice.
5.14.0
- New: “Your Chatzio Impact” panel on the Overview page — see your all-time value at a glance: questions answered, conversations handled, leads captured, estimated hours saved, and your top conversation topics.
5.13.0
- New: Form Lead Sync — optionally add submissions from Contact Form 7, WPForms, Fluent Forms, or Gravity Forms straight to your Chatzio leads dashboard (and out through the webhook). Enable it under Settings Integrations; only the email, name, and phone are captured.
5.12.0
- New: Elementor “Chatzio Chat Button” widget — drag a customizable button into any Elementor page to open the chat on click (text, alignment, colors, radius, and padding controls). It also adds a universal trigger: any element with a data-chatzio-open attribute, or a link to #chatzio-open, opens the chat.
5.11.0
- New: Outgoing webhook — send every new lead and human-handoff request to a URL as JSON, so you can connect Chatzio to Zapier, Make, n8n, or any custom endpoint. Includes an optional HMAC signing secret and a “Send test” button, under Settings Integrations.
5.10.0
- New: Human handoff — when the bot gets stuck or a visitor asks to talk to a person, the chat offers to capture their email. The request is saved as a lead and emailed to you with the question and transcript, so a real person can follow up. Toggle it in Settings Bot Behavior.
- Improved: front-end assets now cache-bust automatically whenever they change, so updates appear without a hard refresh.
5.9.0
- New: Multilingual replies — the chatbot can automatically detect a visitor’s language and reply in it (toggle in Settings Bot Behavior). Turn it off to always reply in your site’s language. One chatbot now serves visitors worldwide.
- New: Settings save instantly — flip a toggle and it applies right away via AJAX, with no page reload.
5.8.0
- New: Chatzio can now (optionally) ask for a review — a friendly, dismissible notice that appears only after your chatbot has delivered real value (25+ conversations or 10+ captured leads). It shows on Chatzio screens only and never nags.
- Improved: a more search-friendly plugin description and tags so more people can discover Chatzio.
5.7.0
- New: Answer Gaps — a page (with a menu badge) that lists the questions your bot could not answer. Add an answer once and the bot uses it from then on; a “Dismiss all” action clears the list. Your FAQ items now double as the bot’s knowledge base.
- New: a clearer Free vs Pro experience — Pro features are shown (locked) in Settings with an “Unlock more with Pro” section and a highlighted Upgrade menu item, so you can see what Pro adds. No free feature is gated.
- Improved: admin card and section spacing on the Settings screen.
5.6.1
- Fixed: an internal “[UNANSWERED]” marker could appear at the end of a chat reply when the assistant was unsure how to answer a question. It is now removed from the message shown to visitors.
5.6.0
- New: during setup you can now send a live test message and watch your assistant reply, so you can confirm everything works before finishing — the fastest way to know your API key is configured correctly.
- Fixed: the setup wizard could stop on a “Sync content” step that only applies to the optional Pro add-on. The free setup now flows Connect AI Try it live Customize with no dead-ends.
- Added a clear confirmation warning before the plugin is deleted. Because deleting (uninstalling) Chatzio permanently removes all of its stored data — settings, saved API key, captured leads, conversation history, analytics and uploaded resources — the warning makes this explicit and points to Deactivate if you only want to switch the chatbot off without losing data.
5.5.9
- Further WordPress.org compliance: removed all remaining Pro-only scaffolding from the free plugin (content-sync / resource-library tables, retrieval and settings).
- Replaced output-buffered inline assets with the WordPress inline enqueue API; inlined email styles; escaped all remaining output.
- Dropped legacy action/shortcode aliases in favour of the
chatzio_prefix.
5.5.8
- WordPress.org directory compliance: the free plugin is fully functional with no gated or locked code.
- Removed the front-end “Powered by” credit and the custom-CSS input.
- Moved all inline scripts/styles to the WordPress enqueue API.
- Additional output escaping and updated Chart.js to 4.5.1.
5.5.7
- Bundled the color picker, date picker and charting libraries locally (no external CDN).
- Removed remote Google Fonts loading; the widget now uses a self-hosted / system font stack.
- Removed shell command usage from document text extraction.
- Removed the fixed daily message cap; the free plugin is now unlimited by default.
- Refined the free/Pro split for WordPress.org: unlimited messaging and lead capture stay free; live order tracking and restock notifications are provided by the optional Chatzio Pro add-on.
- Security and input-sanitization hardening.
